Automation and Robots

Automation and robots are players in most of the supply chain today.  Whether that is in the robotic production cells of a contract manufacturer / OEM, for specialized box build processes or the use of robots in the MedTech operating room itself; the future will be increasingly driven by these machines.

At Middle Branch Partners, we are sensitive to the impact these applications will have on OEMs & contract manufacturers and the impact on the MedTech supply chain.  This includes processes from setting parts in fixtures, cutting operations and precision grinding through to final polishing and laser marking operations.  This week in Chicago we are at the Automate Conference that explores this technology in depth and how it integrates for real world results. We find participants to be very positive about the future integration of this technology into OEM, contract manufacturing and MedTech applications.

Thanks to the Micro Automated Systems Group of New York for their demonstration of their robotic medical fluids handling integrations, seen below.

Medical fluid handling by robot including weighing and labeling operations.

Grinding operations similar to those for some implant secondary processes.
